premise / setting

Upon waking up in this universe, your characters will find themselves in a cell. Welcome to Level 5. Once a heavily guarded level in a research facility, Level 5 has since been abandoned for unknown reasons. While your character has been placed in a cell - getting out isn't difficult if you're adept at that sort of thing. Some might need a little help - but don't worry, you won't be the only one waking up a prisoner.

Why is your character waking up in Level 5 with no knowledge of how they got there? That remains to be seen, and while they might not remember exactly how they got there, there is one thing they might recall. A tall, balding man in his late 40s with pale skin, dark eyes, and yellowing teeth known only as "The Macedonian". He could very well be the reason your character is where they are. Another thing they'll notice? A funny Mark on either their right or left shoulder, and they won't know how it got there.

What lies beyond Level 5? Where is Level 5? It's in Hartsdale, New York, a mere twenty miles north of New York City. Once your character makes their way out of Level 5, they're free to roam wherever they please, but you'll notice something peculiar pretty quickly: apart from the others who have woken up in Level 5? There's no one around. The entire planet is a proverbial Ghost Town.

Why are people being brought to this abandoned universe? What purpose does their presence serve? That's a secret well guarded by those that brought them here. The Company, LuthorCorp, the U.S. Government, the Familiars, Lilith, Linderman, the Powers That Be - whoever it is, they all have one purpose: to separate the gray into black and white. To discover what makes a person evil, or what makes them good? When you strip everything else away, is evil or good inherent?

As always, the world needs saving: will your character be the one to save it, or will they be the one that destroys it?

This is a multi-fandom game, meaning almost all fandoms are welcomed here whether they're books, movies, or television series. Unlike most of the multi-fandom games around here, we endorse canon portrayals of your favorite characters and we also provide a working plot for you and your characters to participate in. Our focus is on character interaction and development - not shipping your crack pairings. If canon isn't your friend, then this is not the game for you.

rules and guidelines

The rules here are simple. We're operating under the same rules every other RPG operates under. Most of it's common sense, and you've all probably been playing long enough to know what they are. When you apply, we're assuming you understand and agree to these basic "default" rules of RPG. As for other important factors for the game, here they are in a handy list format (if you have any questions, drop a comment in the drop box):

Don't mix IC and OOC, don't godmod or powerplay, no twinks and/or Mary Sues, and don't be a jackass.
» The default rules of every RPG. Know them, love them, abide by them. Just don't act a fool.

Journals.
» Your journal name can be anything so long as it appropriately pertains to your character, has no more than one underscore, and contains no extraneous x's.
» Your journal must be for this game and this game alone. Period.
» The journals for the game work like any other online journaling site. IJ, LJ, GJ, CJ, etc. With one exception: characters cannot see icons.
» Concerning strike-throughs: your characters cannot see them. Strike-throughs are as if a character as typed something and then backspaced it, so, ICly, it doesn't exist.

Activity.
» You have 72 hours after being accepted to make a first post (either a thread or journal entry).
» Activity is judged by how active you are in an overall capacity. You cannot just interact with one other character or only post journal entries and expect to remain in the game.
» Once a month, you are expected to do the following: 1) participate in a thread, 2) interact with two additional characters (who weren't in the thread) in two separate locations (either in your journal and then someone else's, or via another thread, a text message, etc. So long as you've been active with 3 characters in 3 different instances).
» Removals are done on the first of every month.

Characters.
» You must portray your character canonically. No crack portrayals are allowed.
» You must use the actor or actress your character is portrayed by, should your character be from a movie/show/etc.
» If you are playing a character who is from a comic book or a video game or is otherwise portrayed by an artwork, you must have an actual PB in place of that.
» Animals cannot be played. Not even talking animals (Donkey from "Shrek", any Disney characters, etc.).
» Aliens are allowable if you have icons for them (Chewbacca, Aayla Secura, etc.).

Canon Portrayals.
» We endorse canon here in the Multiverse. You play your character the way they were designed, not the way you wish they were designed.
» You don't slash/indulge in incest with your character unless it's canon to do so.

Number of Characters.
» You can have as many characters as you like, provided you can stay active with all of them.
» You can only pick up two characters per fandom, and only one can be a major character.
» Don't pick up characters that interact with each other frequently in their universe.

Multiple Versions of Characters.
» We do allow multiple versions of characters if there is a canon instance for it. (ie; you can play Clark Kent from Smallville even if there's a Clark from Superman Returns already in game.)
» You CANNOT play versions of characters if there is no canon instance of them. (ie; you cannot play a "Future Elle" or an adult Molly Walker from Heroes)
» In order to make this fair, before you apply for a second (third, fourth, etc.) version of a character, you need to send a private message to the original player of the original version of the character in the game. (Any original version will be denoted with an asterisk (*) beside their name.)

Relationships.
» Keep your character's canon personality, likes, and dislikes in mind before pursuing relationships. (Sylar from Heroes won't instantly be in love with Brooke Davis from One Tree Hill).
» Marriages happen, pregnancies happen, just use common sense. Pregnancies last no less than eight months unless you have moderator approval. Abortions/miscarriages are NOT a form of birth control here.

Serious Storylines.
» Incest, rape, homicide, suicide, anything that ends up the topic of an episode of "Law & Order: SVU" or "Dr. Phil" requires moderator approval.

Played-Bys.
» There will be multiple characters sharing one similar face (as actors and actresses play multiple roles during their careers).
» Do NOT have your characters comment on it. A dozen posts of "hey, that dude so totally has my face!" will get old quickly.
» If your character is from a comic book or a video game or if your character is otherwise portrayed by an artistic rendering, you MUST find an actor PB for your character.
» Only use icons of your PB from the specific roles you're playing. (ie; Only use icons of Kristen Bell as Elle Bishop if you're playing her as Elle Bishop. That means no icons from Veronica Mars, no candids, etc.)

Canon-puncturing.
» If a fandom has been around for 20+ years, canon-puncturing is allowed.
» If a fandom has been around less than a decade, try to refrain from calling everyone out on everything (the Winchesters, Captain Mal, Lucas Scott, etc.).

Universal Laws.
» The laws of whatever universe your character is from still apply to them. (Buffy Summers can kill a vampire with a stake, the Winchesters have to behead them. Spike can't go outside during the day, other vampires from other fandoms might be able to.)

application

Before you apply, you'll need to have at least one clear, textless icon of your character uploaded. Your character's stats will need to be posted in an unlocked entry in your character's journal so that other players can see what fandom, what point in canon they're from, and other basics about your character. Failure to have either of these things will result in your application remaining pending (and therefore open to being challenged) until you've done both tasks.
